Yes, STAHLWILLE torque wrenches can also be used to undo/loosen bolted joints. However, please be sure to observe the specifications in the respective operating instructions. The load must not exceed the nominal value (maximum measuring range value) of the wrench.

During testing, the torque tool is actuated manually (by hand), whereas during calibration, the tool that is being tested must be actuated by a system. It doesn’t matter whether this is a motorized system or a hand cranked system.

In the majority of cases, STAHLWILLE digital torque/angle tools can be adjusted completely automatically using the motorized PerfectControl calibration systems, or manually (on the 730D, TTS and 714/766 models). Please refer to the respective operating instructions for more information.

Please refer to the latest operating instructions. The 730/730Quick/730Fix/720/721 have two adjusting screws for individually adjusting the lower and upper values. Be sure to use a calibration system to verify the values when doing this.

This is not recommended, since the transducer has been loaded/calibrated for torsion with a measuring shaft, and the measurement results will show incorrect results under the influence of transverse force, e.g. when it is used for torque wrenches.

Since the implementation of the new DIN EN ISO 6789:2017 standard, the manufacturer must indicate to the user if the torque wrench is being operated in a "non-calibrated range". At STAHLWILLE, we indicate this by flashing the display. In the calibrated range, the display is stable.

Since 1993, we have labeled all torque wrenches with serial numbers (SN). If your torque wrench doesn’t have an SN, it was manufactured before 1993. If an SN is present, look at the 2nd and 3rd digits. These represent the year of manufacture of the torque wrench. For example, SN 122xxxxx means that the year of manufacture is 2022.

None of our torque products are ESD-compatible. You can find a selection of VDE torque wrenches in our VDE product range.

Please pay attention to the IP class of the relevant torque wrench with regard to this. We do not generally recommend using any of our torque products under water, since this can result in extreme damage to, or even the destruction of, the electronics and/or mechanics.

STAHLWILLE does not use a compression spring as a measuring element in its mechanical torque wrenches with scales, but a freely mounted flexible rod. This flexible rod is not subjected to any load whatsoever when it is not in use, and therefore does not wear. Furthermore, adjusting the target torque is very quick and easy.

With very few exceptions, all torque wrenches can be recalibrated on STAHLWILLE calibration systems. Exceptions may include, for example, wrenches with a large triggering angle/freewheel, or with sliding clutch mechanisms. Furthermore, very long or very short torque wrenches may be unsuitable due to the amount of room that is available.

Since 1 March 2018, STAHLWILLE has supplied all torque certificates in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6789-2:2017. In addition to the familiar maximum measurement error, the W’ (measurement uncertainty interval) is also indicated. Each user of this torque wrench or torque screwdriver must decide for themselves whether they can/want to use this product for their application or not. If you have no experience or guidelines in this area, you can still use the specified maximum measurement error as a guide.

Due to the risk of accidents (chipping of chrome and metal parts), chrome-plated tools should generally not be used on impact wrenches.

To ensure smooth running and a long service life, the working parts of your ratchet require care. It is best to lubricate them occasionally with a low-friction oil. If you have a fine tooth ratchet, you can also use grease as an exception. It is important, however, that the grease corresponds to NLGI grade 1. For your information: the six NLGI grades indicate the consistency of the grease: 0 stands for very soft grease, while 6 represents very solid grease.

All grips on STAHLWILLE products are resistant to Skydrol, among other things.
