Corporate Social Responsibility is highly important to STAHLWILLE. Our durable products, such as ratchets and torque wrenches, are repairable, which extends their service life. The commitment to our German location keeps our supply chains short. Through repair, maintenance, and calibration, we protect the quality and processes along the entire value chain.
For shipping to customers, we strictly limit the use of plastic packaging and avoid it where technically and functionally possible. Instead, we use materials such as solid cardboard, recycled paper, and paper-based wet tape to promote the use of recyclable materials. We have also introduced machines that produce padding strips from recycled paper, reducing the use of plastic strapping tape by 90% since 2024. The vast majority of tool assortments are delivered in TCS inlays in cardboard boxes with paper packing. Labelling and disposal instructions are provided in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
In 2023, STAHLWILLE achieved energy savings of 525,230 kWh through targeted measures, which corresponds to 5.56% of total energy consumption. The measures include more efficient production processes, LED lighting in the production halls, a new compressed air management system (SAM 4.0), and a new heating control system. As a result, STAHLWILLE avoided a total of 127,363 kg of CO₂ emissions, including 36,831 kg from electricity savings and 90,532 kg from gas savings.
Sustainability at STAHLWILLE starts with the prototype. We rely on the long-term use of our tools and offer spare parts and repair kits beyond the statutory period. Spare parts are available even after more than 30 years and their design promotes repairability. Where possible, we use recyclable materials and aim to use predominantly identical parts in production to reduce the environmental impact of logistics, storage, and production provision.

STAHLWILLE provides verified quality down to the smallest process through a comprehensive management system: Quality management according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, energy management to DIN EN ISO 50001:2018 to improve energy efficiency by 2% annually, environmental management to DIN EN ISO 14001:2015, and calibration laboratory to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. The certifications confirm compliance with the respective requirements of these standards.
STAHLWILLE meets all the requirements of the REACH regulation on chemicals regulation, and is a specialized company in accordance with the Water Resources Act. As part of our production processes, we are gradually switching from chromium VI to chromium III. We comply with the RoHS guidelines for hazardous substances in electrical devices, follow the Battery Act (BattG), and comply with the requirements of the Circular Economy and Waste Act (KrW-/AbfG).
Our own sustainability policy defines standards for working conditions, ethics, and environmental protection. It includes the commitment to fair wages, freedom of association, the abolition of child and forced labor, and the rejection of discrimination and corruption. The policy rules out the use of raw materials of questionable origin and defines measures for the highest level of occupational health and safety, as well as accident and incident management. It also aims to continuously improve water and energy conservation, and reduce waste.
Our Code of Conduct strives for transparency and fairness in cooperation with suppliers and business partners. It defines standards for working conditions, ethics, and environmental protection, and requires our suppliers to strictly adhere to them. The Code prohibits child and forced labor, discrimination, unlawful anti-competitive agreements, and illegal conduct, as well as requirements regarding the handling of raw materials from high-risk areas. We reserve the right to carry out appropriate checks and audits.
Our VSME report transparently presents key performance indicators, measures, and targets in the areas of the environment, social responsibility, and corporate governance. It is based on the ‘Voluntary Sustainability Reporting for SMEs (VSME)’ standard and documents, among other things, data and measures relating to resource and energy use, production processes, and quality and product lifespan. In this way, we provide customers, partners, and employees with transparent information about our activities and progress.
