In the UK's racing scene, Steller Motorsport is a force to be reckoned with: Last year, in a thrilling finale, the racing team won both the drivers' and team championship in the GT4 class. On top of that, they also clinched the GT4 Silver Cup - all with the STAHLWILLE logo on the bonnet of their Audi R8. After all, Steller Motorsport has relied on premium tools from Germany for many years.
It was a historic victory: for the first time, an Audi team won the British GT4 Championship. And Steller Motorsport is still striving for more: in the current season, they will be on racetracks across continental Europe. The team moved to GT4 after winning the British GT Championships and is competing in the long-distance championship. With its Audi R8 LMS Evo2 GT3, they are currently competing in the fiercely contested 2023 Michelin Le Mans Cup.
But be it GT3 or GT4, Spa-Francorchamps or Silverstone: for human and machine, racing is a test of endurance. The demands on technological know-how, craftsmanship, ergonomic and precise tools and components with the lowest tolerances are enormous. The same applies when working under extreme time pressure: every single action must be perfect when thousandths of a second are at stake.
Steller Motorsport has made their choice: tools from STAHLWILLE are always on hand. Whether it be in the workshop, during race preparation, or in a pit stop. The cooperation between Steller Motorsport and STAHLWILLE has been around longer than Steller itself. Gary Blackham, team manager and co-founder of Steller Engineering, and his partner Roger King have both had long careers in motorsport. Gary originally discovered STAHLWILLE back in 1997, when he was working as a team manager for Audi Sport UK. STAHLWILLE accompanied him in this capacity in the Touring Car Championship and finally in the Audi Sport LMP1 Le Mans programme. When Steller was founded in 2000, there was no question of who would supply the tools: Blackham appreciates the outstanding quality of STAHLWILLE. The brand's torque wrenches, he says, are simply ‘the best’.
There are still three races to go in the current season: Aragon in August, Spa-Francorchamps in September and Portimao in October. And regardless of the team's performance in the Le Mans Cup, one thing is already certain: his involvement in long-distance motorsport is a long-term commitment. The chances therefore remain good that you will continue to see the Steller Motorsport Audi in action, painted in white, orange, grey and red. With the number 42 - complete with STAHLWILLE on the front.
