Efficient bolted connections in the rail industry

STAHLWILLE TORSIOTRONIC® torque screwdriver in use at Knorr-Bremse Mödling - secure, digital bolted connections with electromechanical triggering and data connection.
The Knorr-Bremse site in Mödling (Austria) is an important production and development site within the globally active Knorr-Bremse Group, which is represented by more than 100 subsidiaries in more than 30 countries.
Mödling acts as a global competence centre for rail brakes, sanding and wiper systems as well as valves for brake control - key components for the global rail transport market. Innovations are created here that make trains safe and reliable all over the world.
Since 2018, our SENSOTORK® 713R, MANOSKOP® 714 series torque wrenches and the TORSIOTRONIC® torque screwdriver have been successfully used in production. The electromechanical triggering of the MANOSKOP® 714 and the TORSIOTRONIC® is particularly appreciated at Knorr-Bremse. Both tools have a precise electronic measurement combined with the usual mechanical “click” when the target value is reached. These properties contribute significantly to process safety and reduce operating errors - a key factor in the production of safety-critical components.
Cooperation has been intensifying over time: In close coordination between our product development team and production planners at Knorr-Bremse, the tools used and the associated software have been continuously optimised and perfectly coordinated for the production processes.

For us, STAHLWILLE is more than just a supplier - the close and practical cooperation has made it possible to develop tailor-made solutions for our production. The result: measurable process improvements and consistently high quality in bolted connections.
Norbert Zimerman, Industrial Engineer, Knorr-Bremse Mödling
Another milestone was achieved in 2020 with the implementation of the MANOSKOP® 766 DAPTIQ® wireless torque wrench. This was seamlessly integrated into the company’s own worker guidance at Knorr-Bremse, which enables both precise control of the tools and complete digital documentation of all bolting data.
Knorr-Bremse is regarded as a leading company in the industry - technology-oriented, future-oriented and always striving to improve processes. This attitude fits perfectly with STAHLWILLE.
Today, more than 140 electronic and electromechanical torque wrenches and screwdrivers from STAHLWILLE are in use in Mödling - a strong sign of trust and continuous further development.
We are proud of this long-standing, successful partnership and look forward to many more joint innovations.
